Geoff joined the industry in 1971 as a management trainee in contract management for Bovis Fee Construction. In 1981 he transferred to a sales and marketing role. This included a national role promoting the Standardised Approach to Sports Halls (SASH) concept developed with The Sports Council.
In 1986, Geoff moved to another national contractor experiencing the competitive tender market for the first time, a culture shock after ”cosy” management contracting, but invaluable experience. He briefly transferred to the property development arm of the business but soon found out that he was not cut out for this sector.
In 1993, he joined Higgs & Hill and has remained there ever since and seen it become HBG and now BAM Construction.
After 43 years, Geoff remains as passionate as ever about the industry and is constantly irritated that it does not get the credit it deserves for innovation and world leading processes.
