The South West Construction Summit returned for its fourth consecutive year on 22 June 2018 at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol. Over the course of the day, more than 280 delegates had the opportunity to listen to a host of industry experts discussing the key theme of Leadership in construction.
The attendee profile at the South West Construction Summit included some highly influential professionals, creating a rare opportunity to connect with the hardest to reach decision makers within the South West built environment.
Andrew Carpenter, Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence South West chaired the day with inspiring and informative presentations from a range of speakers from across the industry.
The first session of the day included presentations from ; Emma Osmundsen – Constructing Excellence South West, Andrew Carpenter – Constructing Excellence South West, Mark Wusthoff – Galliford Try and Nick James - CITB, where topics included; Diversity to multiply and skills, challenges and opportunities in the South West.
Shortly after a refreshment break and networking with the events exhibitors, the second session included presentations from; Katrina McWhinnie – The McWhinnie Consultancy and David Greensmith – Constructing Excellence South West, where topics included; Brexit – Shaping success in the face of uncertainty and Creating sustainable communities.
After delegates refuelled with lunch, the final session on took place with presentations from; Marvin Rees – Mayor of Bristol, John Skivington – LHC, John Savage – University of the West of England, Alan Tate – Michelmores and Alex Giles – Supply Chain School. The main topics of this session were; New housing delivery in the South West, the joy of innovation, introduction to CESW’s legal guide to offsite manufacturing and BIM maturity for the supply chain.
The summit speakers strongly emphasised that leadership must come from within and that everyone has a part to play. Professionals within sector are key to making improvements and crucial in building an even stronger South West construction industry.
The South West Construction Summit will return for its fifth year on 28 June 2019.
